Makers for Jessi was spawned from an idea by two of our makers, Keith Schoeneick and Tamara Robertson. At the Catskill Makers Camp this past October, Tamara and Keith finally met in person and spoke a lot about how much Jessi Combs has done for their community.

Tamara was collecting donations for Jessi’s signature bandanas in support of The Jessi Combs Foundation. The original idea was to take one of the leftover posters from the bandana booth; frame it, and then auction it off for charity. That led to further discussions with Mark Adams, the photographer that took these amazing photos of Jessi. Tamara, Mark, and Keith continued their conversations over the next week or so and the idea grew to be more than anyone expected and Makers for Jessi was born.

As an inaugural auction, they gathered a few other makers from various backgrounds who were willing to donate their time and materials to frame five portraits of Jessi Combs. These five frames were auctioned off for charity with the proceeds going directly to The Jessi Combs Foundation. Following the success of the auction there was an outpouring of interest to donate items from other Makers who had been directly affected by the spirit of Jessi Combs through directly meeting her or following her Maker journey. With the want to help support the Foundation in keeping Jessi’s dream alive the #MakerforJessi team has decided to continue to partner with Makers all across the globe collecting builds and items to include in future auctions to benefit The Jessi Combs Foundation and their scholarship fund.
